Growing up, my mom would make these ALL THE TIME for us and they would be gone before you blink and once you make this you’ll know why. I’ve made this for parties and gatherings and it’s not unusual for people to go for a round of seconds, and thirds…or maybe it’s just me, I’m only human… But honestly this is probably the best recipe to fool your friends and family in that you have magical kitchen ninja powers (because it’s delicious and requires no skills!-besides being able to mix, which is actually an important skill to have).
What I love about this recipe is that it’s so flexible; if you don’t like an ingredient, just sub it with one of your choice and it’ll still come out perfectly! By perfectly, I mean sort of messy… perfection 🙂 Let me know how yours turn out! Don’t be afraid to mix in some of your fave ingredients, or just stick with my favorite version, ’cause it’s pretty darn good 😉
- 1 1/4 cup polska kielbasa - chopped
- 1 1/4 cup tomatoes - diced *about 2 large tomatoes
- 1/2 cup green onion- chopped
- 1/3 cup bacon, cooked - chopped *(optional)
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp butter - melted
- 1 1/4 cup shredded cheese of choice
- bread of choice *sliced
Preheat oven to 350°. Meanwhile mix all ingredients together.
Put slices of bread on baking sheet and then evenly top with the mixture. Bake for about 20 minutes or until cheese is melted. These are best served right away. Enjoy!
I got the french bread from Walmart for a $1! It's perfectly sliced for this recipe, but if you have another favorite bread, give that a go and let me know how it turns out!
I put that this serves 15 people, but that's only considering that everyone has 1 piece, so I'd recommend to double the recipe for bigger gatherings.
