It is finally here. You guys… I seriously don’t have words. It’s not too sweet, and has the perfect balance of texture and fillings. All my nutella lovers – UNITE! Make this recipe for your next holiday party, birthday, or just for the heck of it. You will NOT be disappointed! The best thing about this cake (besides the taste) is that it doesn’t require baking or time. This is a perfect cake to make ahead of time OR in a time-crunch. It literally takes max 30 minutes to make if you have all the ingredients. You can just make it with 2 layers if you’d like, just divide the recipe quantities in half. I have been seeing Knoppers at Walmart and Aldi, and they have been my absolute favorite treat for a while. Ideally, you would want to use hazelnuts, but it’s completely okay to use any nut you want. I used pecans for this one and it was amazing. You can buy chopped nuts, or use a food processor/blender to chop em’ up. IMPORTANT: It may be hard to find wafer sheets. I got mine at a European store, I’m sure you have one in your area if you look around but if you’re not able to find one, here’s a link to tort wafers similar to the one’s I used: Tort Wafers
The secret ingredients that make this entire thing actually taste like knoppers is the milk powder in the white cream, and the nutella in the chocolate cream. You will not believe how similar these taste to the actual thing!!!!!! IMG I can’t stop raving! This is definitely in my top 5 fave recipes of all time, lol I may be biased 😉
